Back in 2020, we decided it was time to broaden our horizons when it came to our online presence. We’d already dabbled in social media, but with a small team and only so many hours in the day, it was difficult to keep up with!

With this in mind, we looked into onboarding an apprentice who would be able to take control of our online marketing endeavours. We took on Louisa as our Digital Marketing Apprentice in August 2020.

Since then, she’s handled everything from our social media to newsletters to content for clients and has passed her apprenticeship with a Distinction.

Now our Digital Marketing Assistant and with a Digital Marketing Apprentice of her own, we sat down with Louisa to find out a bit more about her role at The Edwards Company.

An Interview with Louisa

What is your work history?

I went straight from university to teaching English in a local secondary school – I did that for four years (from 2016 to 2020) before joining The Edwards Company.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I really enjoy that it’s creative – there’s always something different on my schedule and I love how varied the role is.

What is your least favourite task associated with your role?

Scheduling social media posts – it’s got to be done but it’s just so repetitive!

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Are there any similarities between that and your role now?

From a very young age I’ve always wanted to be a writer – copywriting is part of my role now so definitely plenty of similarities!

Which team member would you most like to swap jobs with for the day?

I’d love to have a go at Kaz’s job – she’s so methodical and I already enjoy doing admin type tasks so I think her role would be a good fit for me!

Describe The Edwards Company team in three words:

Fun, dedicated, passionate.

Funniest experience carrying out your role? (in any job!)

Back when I was teaching, a child asked me why the world used to be black and white and why we can see colour now. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry!

Favourite way to spend your lunch break?

Eating and scrolling through socials, seeing what’s going on in the world.

What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learnt about your role so far?

Definitely to plan my days in advance so I know exactly what I need to do and when I need to do it! It means I don’t forget about or run out of time for important tasks.
